Blue Tiger Highlights

Both the Men's and Women's Lincoln University Blue Tiger Basketball games, Saturday against Oklahoma Panhandle State University, will be broadcast on the internet.  The following link will be active at gamer time beginning at 5:30 pm.

Tuesday, January 13, 2008: Women's Basketball.  Despite scoring more as a team, the Lincoln University Blue Tigers Women's Basketball team still came up a little short at the end against the Maruaders from Central State University, 69-77.  Ashley Norris led the Blue Tigers with 26 points.  Liere Dancy added 21 points and led the team with 12 rebounds.  The team travels this weekend to Goodwell, Oklahoma for a matchup with Heartland Conference rival Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Saturday afternoon. 

 

Saturday, January 10, 2009:  Basketball.  It was another tough double header for the Lincoln University Blue Tigers Basketball teams.  In Heartland Conference games, both the men and Women lost to the St. Edwards Hilltoppers.  In the Womens game, Ashley Norris was the high scorer with 11 points.  Stacey Smith led the team with 7 rebounds.  Liere Dancy and Paris Campbell both had 4 rebounds.  The final score was St Edwards 65-Lincoln 42.  On the Men's side...Lionel Booker and Joe Hutchingson led the Blue Tigers with 16 points.  Booker and Mark Greenwood both had 5 rebounds.  The Women play in Jason Gym on Tuesday against Central State, the men play next Saturday against Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma. 

 

Thursday, January 8, 2009:  Basketball.  The Lincoln University Blue Tiger Basketball teams began heartland Conference play with a doubleheader against the St. Mary's Rattlers.  it was a tough way to start the new year.  Both teams fell to a disapointing end.  The women:  St. Mary's-68  Lincoln-33  Paris Campbell led the Blue Tigers with 13 points and 3 rebounds.  On the Men's side:  St. Mary's-74  Lincoln 57.  Lionel Booker led the team in scoring with his 24 points.  Both teams play on Saturday afternoon in another confernence matchup with the St. Edwards's Hilltoppers.  Tip off at Jason Gym is 2:00 pm. 

Saturday, December 20, 2008:  Women's Basketball.  The Lincoln University Blue Tigers Women's Basketball team closed out 2008 with a close game with the Miners from Missouri S & T.  The final score:  Miners - 58  Blue Tigers - 55.  Ashley Norris and Cherika Ramsey led the Blue Tigers with 12 points.  The women will begin Heartland Conference play on January 8 against St. Mary's University. The tip off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.  The Men will play immediately after the Women.

 

Wednesday, December 17, 2008:  Women's Basketball.  If you listen to Lincoln University Blue Tiger Women's Basketball Head Coach Tim Abney, the score just doesnt tell the story of the game.  Despite the 45-61 loss to the Truman State Bulldogs, Coach Abney says the Blue Tigers never gave up, and with just a few more baskets falling our way, the results would have been very different.  Paris Campbell led the Blue Tigers with 13 points.  Liere Dancy led the team with 7 rebounds.  The Women play again at home on Saturday afternoon against the Missouri S & T Miners.  Tip off is slated for 3:00 pm at Jason Gym. 

 

Monday, December 15, 2008:  Men's Basketball.  The game just didn't go the way it could have as the Lincoln University Blue Tigers Men's Basketball team lost their last game in 2008.  Despite a team leading 18 points and 8 rebounds from Joe Hutchingson, and 16 points from Lionel Booker, the final score was 79-72 in favor of the Marauders.  Kyle Wilde added 15 points to the effort.  The men will begin Heartland Conference play on January 8 with a home game against St. Mary's.

Saturday, December 13, 2008:  Track and Field.  It was a good weekend for the Lincoln University Blue Tigers Track and Field teams, in Manhattan, Kansas at the K-State All Comers meet.  Along with winning the Men's and Women's 4x400 m Relay, the Blue Tigers swept the top 5 places in the Women's 60 m dash, with Nyoka Cole winning first place.  Gerald Basco won the Men's Long Jump.

Saturday, December 13, 2008:  Men's Basketball.  The Lincoln University Blue Tigers Men's basketball team faced another heartbreaker.  This time in Rolla, against the Miners from Missouri S&T.  Despite leading through most of the first half, and a see saw match, the Blue Tigers came up short.  The final score:  86-67.  Joe Hutchingson led the Blue Tigers with 24 points.  Kyle Wilde added 15.  The Blue Tigers are back at home Monday for a re-match with the Marauders of Central State.

 

Saturday, December 6, 2008:  Men's Basketball.  According to Head Coach Charles Terry, the team played their hearts out...but it just wasnt enough to beat the host Central State Marauders in the Central State Classic.  The final score was 66-56.  Joe Hutchingson led the Blue Tigers with 26 points.  Next, the Men will play in Rolla against the Missouri S&T Miners on December 13th

 

Saturday, December 6, 2008: Women's Basketball.  The Lincoln University Blue Tiger Women's Basketball team fought hard in the second half, but still came up short in the end against the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats.  Despite the final score of 85-59, the women shot 58% for the second half, almost staging a comeback.  Ashley Norris led the team with 29 points.  Paris Campbell added 11.  The Women are back in action at home against Truman State on December 17.

 

Friday, December 5, 2008:  Track.  The Lincoln University Blue Tigers had a good showing at SIU Carbondale.  First place finishers include Semoy Hackett (W 60m Dash), Kimour Bruce (M 60m Dash), Carla Thomas (W 400 m Dash), Nandelle Cameron (W 200 m Dash) and the 4X400 m relay.

Friday, December 5, 2008:  Men's Basketball.  The Lincoln University Blue Tigers Men's Basketball team lost the first game in the Ben Waterman Classic in Wilberforce, Ohio.  The men played Elizabeth City State University, losing 93-73.  Joe Hutchingson led the Blue Tigers with 23 points.  Michael Dorton led the team with 9 rebounds.  The Blue Tigers play again on Saturday against the host Central State Marauders.

Wednesday, November 26, 2008:  Women's Golf.  It's official, Lincoln University Blue Tigers Women's Golf Coach Jerry Coffman has his first golfer.  Jefferson City High School Senior Brittany Smith has signed a letter of intent to play golf with Lincoln.  She will become the first woman golfer in Lincoln history.
