Career Services Information

Career Development and Internship Opportunities

It is the goal of Counseling and Career Services to provide all students and alumni with career development and career opportunities. Therefore, freshmen through alumni are encouraged to use services available. Services may range from individual assessment to on-campus job interviews. Students are strongly encouraged to initiate a career placement file at the beginning of their junior year which will assist them with job placement upon graduation.

Internship programs offer students the opportunity to gain on-the-job training in many areas of business, industry, and federal or state government. Through these programs, a student can gain college credit and work experience, and establish a relationship with an employer that can lead to permanent work after graduation.

Internship

Students interested in an internship opportunity can obtain information from the Counseling and Career Services or through their Academic Departments. The criteria for an internship may vary according to the academic department and the agency providing the internship experience.

Career Placement Files

Students are encouraged to complete a Career Placement File prior to graduation. Placement files include letters of recommendation from references chosen by the student, to be mailed to perspective employers at the student's request. Placement files are kept for a period of five years from the date of graduation. The first request is sent out free of charge; for each additional request, the student will be charged a $5.00 processing fee per employer. Students are asked to furnish an updated resume, and fill out the Placement File forms, available in 304 Founders Hall.

Job Posting

Job vacancy announcements are frequently sent to Counseling and Career Services. These job openings are then put onto the campus Blackboard under Career Opportunities.
