Job Title: Small Farm Specialist, West Central Region Code #81473 test

Description: The Innovative Small Farmers’ Outreach Program (ISFOP) at Lincoln University is seeking for an Small Farm Specialist (SFS) for the West Central Region of Missouri. The SFS will be headquartered either in Cass, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, or Platte County to coordinate and conduct activities of other Program Assistants in the region (50%) and within his/her assigned County (50%). Responsibilities include, but not limited to, assisting area small farmers and ranchers to set goals, and guiding them to achieve these goals; disseminating information on whole farm planning, best management practices, and basically all aspects of production agriculture. The SFS should develop positive working relationships with the University of Missouri Extension Regional Specialists, local officials and community leaders, Extension Councils, and various states, federal and other agencies serving the counties; participate in in-service training programs and other activities as directed by the Program Supervisor.
Qualifications: An earned Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related fields is required. The recruit should have diverse farm experience, good communication and people skills; ability to work with socially and economically disadvantaged clientele. The applicant should possess a valid driver’s license, an insured dependable vehicle, and is willing to maintain flexible work hours. He/she should reside in the same work area and be able to work out of home. Knowledge of computer is essential, and some Spanish language skill is desirable.
